This breakfast smoothie bowl made with classic peanut butter and jelly ingredients packs a tasty, nutritional punch to keep you fueled through the morning.
Smoothie bowls are all the rage these days. I’m a big fan of smoothie bowls because I love the consistency of my smoothies to be so thick and creamy I can eat it with a spoon with lots of toppings, no straw required. Every once in a while, I come up with different flavor combinations to make breakfast much more interesting. My latest inspiration came from the nostalgic peanut butter and jelly sandwich!
To make the smoothie part of the breakfast bowl, you only need a handful of ingredients and it couldn’t be easier: a heaping spoonful of peanut butter (any kind you have on hand), milk, Greek yogurt, berry preserves (I used one with mixed berries) and a frozen banana to give it sweetness and creaminess. Toss everything into the blender and process until you’ve got a thick and delicious smoothie base ready for you to top with all kinds of goodies.
When making smoothie bowls, the topping possibilities are endless. To go with the creamy smoothie base, I like to top mine with fresh berries, melted peanut butter, and a scoop of Honey Bunches of Oats Honey Roasted cereal for a nice crunch and flavor — it really makes a winning, delicious breakfast the whole family will love. And it’s not just for breakfast, it’s perfect for a mid-day snack too!
