What’s your breakfast of choice?  For me, it’s usually a yogurt parfait as I’m getting ready for work, reading news, checking emails — just the general mayhem of the morning.  Lately, it’s been a bowl of creamy oatmeal as I’ve been craving it like no other.  I’ve made it three times this week!

Quaker® Oats “Bring Your Best Bowl” campaign inspired me to get creative with oatmeal flavor and so I came up with this creamy, luscious breakfast that I know you will eagerly polish off – Strawberries and Cream Oatmeal!

With only five simple ingredients, you really can’t go wrong.  And you definitely won’t have to feel guilty digging into a bowl of this delicious, dessert-like oatmeal swirled with sweet strawberry preserves and topped with creamy Greek yogurt.

Old fashioned oats and skim milk are my go-to ingredients for oatmeal.  It’s the base for oatmeal I make on an almost weekly basis – I never go longer than a week without a bowl of oatmeal.  It’s filling, satisfying, and the endless add-ins and toppings?  Yep, they’re pretty much the best thing ever.

Strawberries and Cream Oatmeal

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Quaker® Old Fashioned Oats
  • 4 cups milk
  • 2 tbsps brown sugar
  • ½ cup strawberry preserves
  • ½ cup Greek yogurt
  • Fresh strawberries for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • In a medium saucepan, add oats, milk, and brown sugar and bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer and let cook until thick and creamy, stirring often.
  • Swirl in strawberry preserves and let stand until cool enough to eat. Top with a dollop of Greek yogurt and garnish with fresh strawberries if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

*You can use vanilla almond milk or coconut milk to add more flavor.
