Here’s the ultimate picnic snack board – a perfectly delicious, portable, and totally impressive spread to take along to share for your next picnic!

With warmer weather on the horizon, it’s time to pack a picnic for the perfect afternoon day! When it’s sunny out and we have some free time, we really enjoy spending as much of the day outside as possible. Whether it’s going on walks around the neighborhood, spending time at the park, or just laying on a blanket under a shade tree, it feels so good to be outdoors.

For me, food is always factored into outdoor fun. Packing a picnic is such an easy way to enjoy good food with simple ingredients, breathe in some fresh air and let the stress of a busy day melt away. Instead of spending half an hour slaving over the stove, you can spend more time relaxing with fewer dishes to wash.

I love to make charcuterie boards for holiday gatherings or happy hour with friends and family, so I thought…why not a picnic snack board?

This picnic snack board takes little effort to prep with zero cook time, and it is super easy to make. I’ve put together some tips you can follow which will help you make your own delicious spread, whether it’s for a picnic, cookout or even date night at home.

With Sabra Hummus and TRISCUIT Crackers, both of which can be picked up at Walmart in-store and via online grocery, you can quickly put together this snack board with little effort.

What to include on a picnic snack board?

The best thing about preparing a picnic snack platter is that there are no strict rules as to what ingredients you can use. Feel free to include whatever you can find in your pantry and fridge for a mix of textures and flavors. Try to pick items that are good as finger foods in order to avoid having to serve with utensils.

I like to keep the preparation to a minimum and use store-bought versions of the staples as much as possible. Your picnic snack board should look balanced with a good variety of ingredients.

Here are some easy and yummy ideas:

  • TRISCUIT Original Crackers
  • Sabra Classic Hummus – or one of their other great flavors!
  • Dips such as salsa or guacamole
  • Bread and crackers
  • Cheeses (brie, aged cheddar, manchego, goat cheese)
  • Meats (prosciutto, dried salami, sopressata)
  • Fresh and seasonal fruits and vegetables. Apple slices, berries, and grapes are great fresh choices for fruits. Peppers, cucumber, and carrots are also good.
  • Some extras such as roasted nuts, dried fruits (apricots, figs), or trail mix

What kind of board should I use for my picnic snacks?

Since this is for a picnic, I like to use a rimmed serving tray or half baking sheet to keep everything organized and for easy transport.

What is the best way to pack this snack board?

It’s always a good idea to arrange the snacks on the board beforehand and cover it with plastic wrap or foil to help everything stay put. Keep it in the refrigerator until you’re ready to take it along for your picnic.

What kind of cheese should I use and how much per person?

For my choice of cheese, I like a combination of flavors and textures, maybe a soft cheese and a hard cheese, something with a sharp, salty bite, or smoky flavors.

If you’re serving the cheese as a snack, plan on 1 to 2 ounces of each cheese per person.

TRISCUIT Crackers paired with Sabra Hummus are perfect on my picnic snack boards. I love that TRISCUIT Original Crackers are non-GMO project verified and start with just three simple ingredients: 100% whole grain wheat, oil, and salt. Deliciousness doesn’t have to be complicated or require a slew of ingredients.

Sabra Hummus is creamy, flavorful, and easy to serve. With more than 5 delicious flavor varieties sold at Walmart, you’ll definitely find a flavor that is satisfying to everyone in the household or at the gathering.
