Kansas City-Style BBQ Sauce

This Kansas City-style homemade BBQ sauce recipe is the perfect balance of tangy, smoky, and sweet flavors. It’s a classic that goes well on pulled pork, ribs, chicken, and more!

Ingredients

  • 1 15- oz can tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup yellow mustard
  • 2 tbsps Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsps liquid smoke
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Whisk all ingredients together in a medium saucepan.
  • Bring the sauce to a boil over medium-high heat and reduce to a simmer. Simmer (uncovered) for 10 minutes, or until the sauce has slightly thickened.
  • Use the sauce immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
