Spring Cleaning Checklist

Spring cleaning doesn’t have to feel overwhelming – print this handy checklist and follow along for a clean home all year round!

Spring is always a little bit of a roller coaster here in New York. One day it’s bright and sunny, others are cloudy and rainy.  I still love this time of year regardless because of the feeling that a fresh start is upon us, which always seems to get me in the mood to throw open all of the windows and scrub our home sparkling clean from top to bottom.  We’re deep into Spring, yet this past weekend I finally got around to getting some deep cleaning and decluttering around the apartment!

So today I’m sharing with you my Spring Cleaning Checklist which includes tasks for cleaning different parts of the home and will help keep you organized and focused on getting things done!  It’s a good reference and can really be used year round whenever your room needs a good deep clean.

Ready to get cleaning?

KITCHEN

  • Clean the oven
  • Clean and degrease stovetop and burners, include washing any removable parts
  • Check the expiration date on all items and discard anything that looks old or you don’t use
  • Clean out the fridge and freezer
  • Organize the pantry and wipe down surfaces
  • Deep clean pots, pans, and bakeware
  • Wipe down all appliances (microwave, toaster oven, dishwasher)
  • Scrub and clean the kitchen sink
  • Clean and disinfect the trash can
  • Disinfect or replace sponges, brushes, and towels

LIVING ROOM

  • Wash blankets and throw pillows
  • Remove clutter from coffee table (magazines)
  • Wipe down coffee table and side tables
  • Vacuum couches and chairs

BEDROOM

  • Wash or replace pillows
  • Wash all bedding, including mattress pads, bed skirts, and comforters
  • Vacuum under the bed
  • Organize closets and donate unwanted items

BATHROOM

  • Wash the shower curtain and bathroom rugs
  • Replace with new shower curtain liner
  • Scrub shower and tub
  • Wipe down toilet and clean bowl
  • Clean mirrors, sink, countertop, cabinet, handles and fixtures
  • Clean and disinfect the trash can
  • Organize medicine cabinet, removing expired products

THROUGHOUT THE HOUSE

  • Vacuum and/or mop floor
  • Clean curtains and window blinds
  • Dust and clean vents
  • Wash floor rugs
  • Check and replace batteries in smoke detectors
  • Dust your home thoroughly, including shelves, tabletops, and wall hangings. Don’t miss those hard-to-reach places, such as the ceiling fans and light fixtures

Maintaining a clean, orderly home feels so rewarding and for me, spring cleaning is not so much a chore, but more about making the house as comfortable and inviting as possible.  A change of seasons calls for a change of scents, so every once in a while, I like to add some fresh touches to brighten the house, maybe fresh spring blooms or scented candles – it leaves the house smelling just light and fresh.

Spring cleaning doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. Print this checklist out and put it somewhere where you’ll see it and be reminded of your list and you can work on it section at a time rather than all at once. Once you’re all done, relax and enjoy your clean home!
