After a busy work week I like to take some time to decompress, whether that means taking a long walk, doing some yoga routine, or getting a nice spa treatment.  Taking a warm bath also does the trick whenever I am in need of some relaxation and downtime.  So how do you create a rejuvenating spa experience in the comfort of your own home?  Easy.  Just raid your kitchen pantry!

I make my own bath salts using ingredients you can easily pick up at the grocery store or pharmacy.  To a mix of Epsom salt, sea salt and baking soda, I add a few drops of 100% pure aromatherapy essential oils from Nature’s Bounty® Earthly Elements™ in chamomile. I selected this scent because the fragrance is so calming and soothing — exactly what I need to decompress after a busy day.

After about fifteen minutes in this salt bath makes me feel like I’ve been whisked away to a luxurious spa.  Not only does the fragrance help me relax, the bath provides soothing relief from stress, sore muscles, and stiffness.

Aromatherapy can have a variety of benefits. Each essential oil has its own unique aroma, effect and “personality” so make sure you choose a scent you enjoy.  Play around with different scent combinations for different aromatic benefits to create a custom blend that you like.

  2. How cool is this?!?! I am new to the essential oils scene and have heard about people making bath salts but I’ve been too nervous to try it because I thought it was going to be difficult. It looks so simple! Thank you so much for sharing!
