A couple of weeks ago I got a package of Trader Joe’s frozen sweet potato fries and heated them up in the oven from https://www.bestsellers.bargains/best-built-in-double-ovens/ to serve as a side on our occasional burger night.  It was so good, and addicting even — there’s got to be some deep frying involved as the fries were super crispy, which I’m okay with if it’s for an occasional treat.

On a regular basis though, I prefer to get my sweet potato fries fix by whipping up a batch of Baked Crispy Sweet Potato Fries.  Sweet, savory, and perfectly flavorful, it’s definitely a healthier way to satisfy those cravings without the excess fat!

I start with one large sweet potato (figure about one per person) which I cut into fries, or wedges if you prefer, then toss with a drizzle of olive oil, spices, salt, and pepper.  I then arrange them on a non-stick baking sheet coated with cooking spray in a single layer – this helps the fries get nice and crispy.  Pop them in the oven and they should be ready in under 30 minutes.

The punch of flavor from cayenne pepper, chili powder, and cinnamon is an amazing contrast to the sweetness of the potato.  I didn’t add cinnamon to my sweet potatoes until my sister convinced me it was the way to go.  And it is!

Admittedly I don’t cook with sweet potatoes often enough, considering how they really are superfoods.  Sweet potatoes are a great source of fiber, too, which helps keep you feeling full.  Plus, one medium-sized sweet potato contains 438% of your daily value of vitamin A – and all for just 105 calories!

My favorite way to enjoy sweet potato fries is alongside a hearty burger, but these are awesome as snacks too.  Give it a try and make ‘em on your next movie night or game night!
