Hope you had a fun Fourth of July this year! I had a great time celebrating with friends, complete with a spectacular fireworks display along the Hudson River in the evening. And if you know me, you’d know that I get super excited about every opportunity I have to make festive foods for friends. I snapped a few photos of the savory and sweet treats I made with my phone and unfortunately, the quality was not that great, but thanks to James and his laudable photography skills, I have these awesome photos for show and tell!
One of my favorite ingredients for making quick appetizers with impressive results is storebought puff pastry. I made these golden puff pastry pigs in a blanket with cheddar wursts the night before the party (cooked the sausages but underbaked the pastry), and then finished baking them right before people showed up. They’re a cinch to make!
To stick to the all-American desserts theme, I made oatmeal raisin cookies, s’mores brownies, and rice krispies bars with chocolate peanut butter fudge.
I think it’s safe to say that people liked the foods, and from my perspective, these are definitely no-fuss, delicious dishes that you can make so that you are not slaving away in the kitchen and actually get to enjoy the party as much as your guests. I definitely owe you recipes for the ones I have not yet posted!
