About Me

Hello! I’m Karen.  The cook, writer, and photographer behind The Tasty Bite.  I currently live in New York City’s Midtown, where good restaurants, bakeries, and bars are plentiful.  My cooking and baking take place in my studio-sized kitchen (I’m always struggling for storage and counter space).  Thank goodness I have a stove!

During the day, I’m an attorney.  My day is filled with lots of documents, emails, and problem solving in general.  After a long day at work, nothing makes me more relaxed than to whip up and eat a batch of brownies.  Or a piece of steak.  Or some cheddar biscuits.

I love to entertain friends and family, and I’m excited about parties, holidays, and pretty much all occasions that involve food and people.  When I’m not keeping myself busy in the kitchen, I like to travel, sample different food ingredients, and be inspired by the restaurants and foods I get to try.

About the Blog

Food has always been something near and dear to my heart.  My favorite food memories involve helping out in my mother and grandmother’s kitchen, and gathering around a table of delicious, home-cooked dishes with my family.  Growing up in a food-centric family, I’ve developed an eagerness to experiment with different flavors, textures, and cuisines.

I started this blog in April 2012 as a place for me to share my recipes with family and friends and to challenge myself with new recipes and cooking techniques.  I love to take pictures and I love to talk about food, so starting a food blog is the most natural thing for me to do.

Here you’ll find basic techniques, classic dishes, and dishes I have created inspired by things I have tried or seen.  Sometimes I embrace food trends, but most of the time, I stick to recipes that stay true to their culinary roots.  I hope that you’ll like the recipes you find here, and most importantly, have fun with them!
