Noticed something different on here? The Tasty Bite got a facelift!
If you have stopped by here in the past few days, you must have noticed that the design looked different probably every time you loaded the page. I was ready for something different but couldn’t figure out a solution after testing a couple of different themes. The site crashed twice after I attempted at some CSS coding; the instructions specifically said “DO NOT touch the function file or else your site might crash.” I think there was a big stop sign too. Guess what I did? Well, I had to learn it the hard way. It’s like telling a child not to touch something and he does it anyway.
Several heart attacks and headaches later, I’ve settled on this one. Do you like it? I’m still trying to fix some bugs, especially the recipe plugin at the end of the post, which seems to only show the title of the recipe. You can see the entire recipe if you click the “Print” button (it should prompt the full-screen recipe), but I promise I’ll get that fixed very soon!
In the meantime, a giveaway, as promised! My friend, who wants to learn how to bake, has asked me what basic, essential kitchen tools she should get to make cookies, muffins, and pies. While I was putting together a list for her, I was thinking that it would be a great idea to giveaway a set of my favorite kitchen tools too!
Here are my picks:
OXO Good Grips Batter Bowl
A good mixing bowl is a must, and this one has a spout to make it easily pourable. There are also red measurement markings (inside), so that you can gauge how much batter you have used (or remaining).
OXO Good Grips Medium Silicone Spoon Spatula
I received a set of silicone spatulas from OXO, which was a brand partner of the Great Food Blogger Cookie Swap, and I can’t tell you how much I love them! With the silicone spatula, you don’t have to worry about stirring hot liquids with it (and melting it).
OXO Good Grips 11″ Whisk
A sturdy whisk is important for making cake batters and cream sauces, especially when you will be whisking for quite some time. This one has a rubber handle so that it won’t slip out of your hand.
OXO Good Grips 1″ Pastry Brush
Some people prefer silicone brushes, but I just love the bristle brushes. I think they hold liquids better than silicone brushes, and are essential for applying egg wash, melted butter, and glazes (like these French fruit tarts).
To receive a set of the above, follow the Rafflecopter instructions below. Good luck!
